A week in the hospital can throw anyone’s blog a little off-kilter - at least, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. So on with it!
I still have several (ok, more than half) of my blog posting categories to tell you about. As you can see, I have my work cut out for me, so I’m certain a few of these definitions will be short and sweet. I’ll tackle a few here:
I write about… “I’m a NaBloPoMo ‘07 Member”
I participated in NaBloPoMo for the first time in 2007. In case you’re still trying to pronounce ‘NaBloPoMo’ I’ll give you a hint - its short for “National Blog Posting Month”. NaBloPoMo challenges blog writers to write at least one blog post per day during the month of November. The first NaBloPoMo was in November 2006 and it was inspired by National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).
Consequentially, Blog 365 extends the challenge to bloggers (this one included) to blog at least one post (across more than one blog if needed) per day during 2008. You can see my Blog365 profile here and MyKidney Blog365 profile here.
I write about… “I’m a Photographer”
All of blog posts with pictures (I’ve taken) default into this category. I like to take pictures for fun, but I don’t know what I’m doing and I can barely handle my Cannon Rebel XTi. I have very minimal photo-editing skills and I don’t own any fancy equipment. Occasionally, I accidentially take a better picture with my camera phone than with my actual camera.
I write about… “I’m a reviewer of Things”
Let’s get one thing absolutely straight - I am opinionated and yes I will tell you what I think. Therefore, I am a reviewer of things - all things. Occasionally I review things for PBN but most of the time I’m going to ‘review’ my own experiences with things I buy, use or have been gifted. And trust me, if there is something I particularily hate? Yeah, you’re gonna hear about that first.
I write about… “I’m The Kidlet’s Mom”
Hey, I’m The Kidlet’s mom! The Kidlet is my 7-year-old, going on 27-year-old, second-grader, singleton baby boy. He’s the biggest challenge in my life and the one person who has single-handedly taught me that I know a whole lot less than I previously thought. In this blog post category, I write about my general views on parenting and share some of my own parenting experiences. I share the good and the bad and the funny, but I try not to put my son’s entire life online (because lets face it, it’s still HIS story to tell, not mine…)
I write about… “I’m an Adoptive Parent”
I became The Kidlet’s mom through adoption. Adoption is a complex and volatile topic on the internet that seems to ebb and flow daily (hourly? by the minute?) and is defined by people on every side and angle as being loving, life-saving, unfortunate, evil, horrible or even, inhumane.
On this website the topic of adoption comes up infrequently (my son’s “adoption story” is on my blog “A World of Adoption“) but it is mentioned once in awhile. Recently, I’ve decided to stop struggling with the ideals others would have me champion for them, and I’ve begun breaking away from the daily “politically correct” voice. I’ve found my own voice and it doesn’t always agree that talking about adoption 24/7 is necessary.
I’m not going to tell the entire world about every single aspect of my son’s life or my son’s adoption - as I mentioned above, it’s HIS story to tell, not mine.
I write about… “I’m an Advocate”
I’m a passionate advocate for a few things - Organ Donation Awareness, Kidney Disease Patient Empowerment and Adoption Reform (of all types). I’m also an advocate for my friends and family and whatever they might be facing or living with in their lives. I’m also an advocate for living one’s life HAPPILY no matter what hand of cards you’ve been dealt.
I’m an advocate for “You Make Your Own Happiness” :)

You just got home from the hospital and wrote all of that?
Impressive.
Now get back to bed and rest.
I hope you’re fairly comfortable.
BTW, Nikki and I decided that since it wasn’t really feasible for me to visit you this time with a 6-year-old in tow, that means I’ll just have to go down again. :)
P.S. Thanks so much for the card. :)
Love,love.

“BTW, Nikki and I decided that since it wasn’t really feasible for me to visit you this time with a 6-year-old in tow, that means I’ll just have to go down again.”
That’s totally fine :) As it turned out, I was avoiding even my local friends who wanted to visit. I just sorta felt like being alone.
Did you have fun at Disney?
You’re welcome for the card… much love to you.
