A check? For $235.34? What?

I’m wondering why, when I opened my most recent health insurance statement (I get dozens each month) a check for $235.34 fell out?

WTFHuh? *but throws caution to the wind and does the Happy Dance*

Since when does the healthcare system in this country pay back their insurers? Further, since when does government insurance (i.e. Medicare) make payments to beneficiaries? Is there some secret to this that I should know (and share with you) that I can tap into?

I’d love to open more letters from the government and have money fall out of them. Wouldn’t you?

There must’ve been a mistake somewhere. I’m not gonna ask, though - I’m just gonna take it and pretend I’m naive.

For some reason, though, I have this stinking feeling it will come back to me in the form of my owing someone (a doctor’s office, the hospital, a lab or pharmacy) exactly $235.34.

That happened to me with United Healthcare once. It was a large sum of money so I threw it in the savings account. About three months later, I got a bill from Quest Diagnostics for the exact amount. Don’t spend it!

I’d put it away…wait a while and if no one claims it, it’s yours :) I found you through the contest site. I’m not entering but wanted to read your blog.
