Thursday Thirteen (a day late)

I really wanted to post this list for yesterday’s Thursday Thirteen, but with the big contests (1, 2 and 3) going on ’round here, I got side-tracked.

Yeah, I know it’s Friday, but I’m gonna post this anyway - deal!

Thirteen Things you’ll Rarely Find (that I post about) in this Blog

1. My ‘real’ first name. Most of you know me as ‘Krissi’, but to be quite honest, that’s not the name my parents gave me. Many people IRL don’t even know this.
2. Politics. I don’t blog about politics because I don’t know enough about them (in a general sense) to argue one side or another. Especially when it comes to the upcoming Presidential election.
3. Details of my daily life, in a time-line format. I don’t like to read blogs where every single thing someone does each day is dutifully logged, so I don’t write mine that way. For example, I’m not going to tell you every time my kid poops or says something cute. I will tell you about individual events, like if he poops something purple or says/does something exceptionally cute.
4. A lot of pictures of my family, especially my son. I’m sure there are a lot of you out there who think I must absolutely adore my chihuahua a lot more than my kid, because you’ll find her pictures everywhere and a very sparse number of photos of anything else. This isn’t only on this blog, but also on my Flickr account and my other websites. I have a blogger friend who just discovered, unfortunately the hard way, many of the reasons to not put loads and loads of pictures of her children online. This is just my personal decision, and it doesn’t mean I don’t think you should make the same choice(s) for your own blog(s) and kid(s).
5. Similarly, few details about my family… K1 is a very private person, and out of respect for him I don’t discuss his life or what he does/thinks/says very often. I figure that if he wanted to share those details with the blogosphere he’d start his own blog. As far as my son is concerned, see #4, above. Again, I might share a sweet, funny or entertaining story about my family, but you’ll find it from my perspective… and I’m guarded when it comes to giving TMI.
6. … including my extended family. For the same reasons (well, except I am really wanting a new neice from my brother and SIL so I’m not counting that).
7. Where I grew up and many of my childhood memories. Not that they’re bad (they aren’t) or not worth sharing (they probalby are) I just don’t feel a huge need to write about being a kid.
8. Rape. I’ll just say that topic is a little too close to home. Maybe I’ll write about it in the future, but not now.
9. Graphic and specific details about how I feel about my chronic illnesses. Ok, maybe I fudge a little on this one, but truely, you don’t really know what’s going on in my life now or in the past in regards to my health and how it affects me emotionally. I do try to share some of the funnier moments, and some of the scary moments, but you won’t find a list of my ‘diagnoses’ and I rarely discuss my true feelings/emotions.
10. My POV about specific other blogs (not other blog posts). Yes, I might disagree, I might not like what someone says, I might even callout something I find irritating, (and I might even suggest blogs I like!) Why? Because the opinions you have on your blog belong to you, and in my mind your opinions are as valid as you are… Your differing opinions from mine don’t invaidate your blog (or you). Sometimes I wish I could get others to realize this, too…
11. My sex life. Yes, it exists, but well, I don’t want to have an ‘X’ rated blog here… although discussions about my boobs seem to be acceptable.
12. My issues with food (i.e. my ED). I’m trying to break out of this shell and talk/write about it more, but I still rarely do.
13. My relgious beliefs or what I think about religion in general. Religion is such a very personal thing and my beliefs aren’t something to share in this media. I also try not to discuss other’s religious preferences because… it just gets messy, you know? Religion as a topic is off-limits here.
