I’m wondering if anyone who reads my blog takes Lyrica for Fibromyalgia? I was once diagnosed with Fibro, although I have always questioned it (mostly because some symptoms like chronic fatigue/pain are similar to the general effects of CKD/ESRD).
I’ve been having more and more ‘episodes’ of chronic pain which prevent me from sleeping and moving (think: I-ache-all-over-like-the-flu pain) and lead me to (reluctantly) wonder if maybe the Fibro diagnosis is really plausible.
I torture myself by not taking pain medication, hoping that the pain will just “go away”. Instead, all it does is make me sleep less (because of the pain) which results in more pain, which results in me just feeling miserable until I finally just TAKE SOMETHING… and the vicious cycle continues.
I’ve been really resistant stubborn to accepting “more drugs” into my regimen. I love the fact that I’m taking far fewer medications now than I was during dialysis (even counting the anti-rejection medications!) and I really, really, REALLY want to keep it that way. I don’t welcome the idea of a new prescription, however, I’d welcome the idea of not needing narcotic pain “take as needed” medication in lieu of something that could keep me feeling better more of the time.
Thoughts?

My mil has fibro and I don’t think she takes lyrica but she takes 3432432 other drugs. I can give you a list of them if interested.

LOL :) I’m trying to avoid taking 3432432 other meds, too. The traditional treatment for Fibro is usually sleeping meds (which I have) and narcotic pain meds (which I also have) to take “as needed”. I’m sooooooo tired of “popping pills” :(

What I’ve heard about it make it sound like a miracle drug.
