Will You Give Le Mime a Dime?

Everyone talks about change these days, and change is what this world needs.

My friend Taylor Barr wants to go to Paris because he’s all about changing the world we live in - for the better. But in order for him to go, he needs some help.

This is a short, silent film was created to raise money to send Taylor Barr to the LeWeb ‘08 conference in Paris, France. “Taylor the Mime” doesn’t say a word, but there’s no mistaking exactly what he wants to do!

Paris on Le Mime from David Parsons on Vimeo.

If just 80 people donated $25 each, Taylor will meet his goal to attend LeWeb 2008. Taylor wants you to know:

“I am trying to raise money for a plane ticket to the LeWeb 2008 Conference in Paris, France on December 9th/10th of this year…

LeWeb is not just another conference. It is an event created by Geraldine & Loïc Le Meur looking to inspire conversation on wider array of topics than just technology. Yeah, technology is an important aspect of our future, but can technology be used in other sectors as well? Perhaps for social change?…

I want to go to the conference to discuss with companies and startups and invoke conversation on how we can change the world. I strongly believe that technology will play a huge role in accommodating and perhaps solving some of the world’s most difficult issues.”

Taylor Barr, you rock my world, even when you’re not saying anything at all. Good luck and cheers to your success… and THANK YOU for representing me, being my voice:

“Across the spectrum, I want to be there to be your voice. Family, Friends, and Colleagues- Please do what you can to make this dream come true.”

Support the Supporting

Last year I wrote about “Supporting ‘Not-Supporting’” in regards to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I was cynical and very serious when I said:

The motivation for supporting should be pure and uninhibited. If one is going to be a supporter (of any cause) one should support something one believes in or something that one has personally had experience with. One should never support a cause “just to be a part of something”…

This year is different. So very, very different. This year supporting the awareness, especially Pink for October, means something to me.

One of my closest (in real life) friends has a lump… and she still has to wait until next week for the biopsy reveal.

I love her so very much and I can’t fathom my life without her. Watching her struggle over the last few weeks has been gut-wrenching for me… and I can’t begin to imagine how she feels.

My friend is a very private person, but with her permission, I changed the design of my blog for October. This year I have every reason in the world to join the support.

My blog is pink[ish]. Is yours?

The Lump in My Throat

Happy birthday, Elaine - on what would’ve been your 33rd, you deserves to have the biggest party. I bet you’re smiling with the knowledge that your and K1’s office is throwing you a huge one - complete with an “authentic Italian birthday cake” special ordered by your dad.

I wish you were here.

I miss you so much.

Heart of Steel

Today, a flood of memories, circa 1993: the lyrics speak to me and they say

Those who laugh and crowd the path
And cut each others throats
Will fall like melting snow

Stand and fight
Live by your heart

Say what you feel

Thanks for calling and taking a trip down memory lane, APXB2… it was a welcomed surprise for an otherwise lonely Saturday afternoon.

… and yes, I miss you, too.
