I don’t think I’ll be ‘boycotting’ the movie “Tropical Thunder“. Some people are - go right ahead and join them - but I won’t be.
I might not see it (just because it looks like a waste of time and money) but not for the controversy. On that note, and having not yet seen the movie, my thoughts are as follows:
If the Tropical Thunder makes fun of an actual (character) disabled person, then in no way, shape or form is using the word ‘retard’ acceptable. For example - using “retard” repeatedly in Forrest Gump would’ve bothered me.
Gimme a break - A big controversy about saying ‘retard(ed)’ in a movie portraying actors playing other actors?! Oh, and it makes my head spin.
The trailer itself makes the acting look retarded and moronic, and unless any of the (real) actors is actually intellectually challenged, then I’m not drinking the Tropical Thunder retarded Kool-Aid.
The movie itself looks retarded, and yes, I would look Ben Stiller in the face and tell him that.
I’ll just sit back and wait for the “you are sooooooooooooo insensitive comments to roll in”. Bring ‘em on. My opinions are never PC, anyway…
