I think my vacation officially started today, even though I’ve been here for a week.
… and seriously, I don’t mind one bit being the ‘extra’ set of hands (driver/babysitter/housekeeper/errand-runner, etc.) because that’s what my vacations in CA usually consist of. I fit back into my ‘role’ fairly easily, even though two years have passed since I was here last, and nearly 12 years have flown by since I was officially the family nanny.
12 years. The twins will be 13 in January. MY SON will be 8 in July. Where has the time gone?
So, here I am - if I could only calm my mind and heart, I’d really be vacationing.

Judy mentioned in one of her posts recently that it seems many bloggers are taking a break from writing - all for a variety of reasons. She suggested that maybe we all need a NoBloPoMo (a No Blog Posting Month)…
… I might just have one right about now.

Every summer I go to California and spent 2-6 weeks with my “family”. I haven’t been there in almost two years (last summer I was sorta tied up getting a kidney transplant) and I’m super anxious to go. I leave on June 9th.
I’ve been making these CA trips at random times for the last 7 years, while I’ve been a SAHM, unemployed/disabled due to kidney failure, and during the times when I can afford it. It’s been a small luxury, and it’s never far from my mind that I’m lucky in this way.
However, I feel meloncholy that this will probably be one of the last extended “vacations” in California that I’ll be taking for awhile. I really hope by this time next year I’m healthy enough to be back to working.
If you’re wondering, The Kidlet is coming with me, but is only spending about a week in Ramona, CA before he spends the rest of the summer between three sets of grandparents (in CA, CO and AZ). K1, unfortunately, has to stay home (with the exception of one weekend) to work.
As for me,
THIRTEEN things I want to do on my 5 week trip to San Diego/Ramona, California:

We got home from vacation, yesterday… Home sweet home!
Of course the first thing I did upon arriving home do was unpack, do laundry, give my dogs baths, make dinner, clean out the fishtank and clean my house before I could relax (I’m some form of weird obsessive-compulsive in the cleaning department) and then around 7 PM I realized I was TIRED.
Oh, and we still have colds so I’m a tad sick, too.
I still need to get the 500+ photos we took during our trip off my laptop (today’s project) and do a butt-load of laundry that accumulated while I was away.
I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and a full schedule for the next week - I’m already feeling like I need another vacation! LOL
